#38902 11/20/2001 2:41 PM | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 14 Member | | Member Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 14 | I need to replace the bushing in the rear of the transmission that is the outer support for the front of the universal joint. the transmission is a 3 speed on the tree, serial # LO 72823. what is the procedure to replace this bushing? I was told by one of our suppliers that there is a external bolt that holds the collar containing the bushing, but there is no external bolt visible. anyone done this with out removing the tranny and disassembling it???? HELP! | | |

The only way I know of is to remove the tail housing. Dropped the tranny, disassembled, replace the bushing and put it all back together. Took about half a day. I was younger and stronger then, could remove and replace the tranny by myself with no jack back then  , now I have to use a jack under the tranny.

Then the trick is to get the bushing out, I hope you have the transmission out of the truck, it is easier that way. | | |
