As you may know, I'm into Antique Wreckers pretty big, & I'm invisioning installing a Holmes W45 Wrecker unit, I have, on the back of this 470 COE. I've already removed the Holmes W35, that was on the '46 Chevy I had, & getting ready to install it on the '52 GMC 450 COE I have.

Spanky, Back in the 60's I worked for a towing outfit and we used Holmes 600 units. I've been looking for a tow truck or the Holmes unit but haven't seen a thing.
Do these get bought up by someone or what happened to all the old tow trucks.
I thought it would be handy to have a 600 unit because the booms can be split and then used for wenching or whatever.
You got any clue where Holmes go to rest or are they melted down already ?
Dan

Dan, It's still a few Holmes 600's in my area. I had three of them at one time, a few years ago. Sold two of them, but still have a Petty Blue Holmes 600, that I use regularly. I've also owned several Vintage Holmes 515's, Holmes 525's, one Holmes W35, & one Holmes W45. Once the hydraulic Wreckers came out, back in the mid 80's, these old mechanicals started disappearing, little by little. Some converted to hydraulic wreckers, & some pushed aside, & left unused until they met their demise. Check out my link below, for photos of my old wreckers.

Spanky, Old blue looks to be in decent shape. Hard to see but it looks like a truck sling on the back. I got a tour of the Holmes plant in Tn. when I flew down to pick up a wrecker we had ordered back in the 70's. thanks
