Converting modern transmissons with electronic speedometer drive sensor is a problem when you have a good old original cable driven speedometer.

I converted an 89 T-5 5spd.(electronic speedo.) into my 47 Chevy. Did not want to mess up my perfect original Speedo.

Nevada Speedometer, Sparks, NV (775)358-7422 had the answer!

Called the "Cable X" coversion box from Abbott Interprises, INC. The unit runs from the signal produced by the transmission sensor and turns an electric motor in the box that drives the speedometer cable. Dip switches sets up the calibration. Box mounts inside the vehical on the firewall.

This thing works GREAT!

The cost was $300.00. Electronic Speedometer conversion was alot more, a long wait and would not match up to the rest of the dash.

Read about it at http://www.atrol.com/abbott.htm

Speedo Shop was the same price as the net and you get the technical support if you run into set-up confusion. Any reputable shop should be able to help out.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

What will they think of next? I wonder if you can make it turn backwards, and leave it on all night!
