Excellent question dbone!! I've got a '46 also and can't figure that out either. Also just what was in the tool kit? Maybe someone out there in "Stoveboltland" can help us!

Anybody, anybody???

I know there were tool kits and some came in canvas bags and some came in wooden boxes as pictures have shown, however, where in the world would you store them in the cab? Was the back of the seat suppose to fold down? My won't, or at least I haven't figured out how to release it. Any pointers on executing this manuver? There seems to be a little space that I can see behind the seat back where "maybe" one could store a tool kit but the darn cushion won't budge. Its still the only area in the cab that seems plausible to tuck away the tool kit and jack.

Anybody with thoughts on this? Once again we're talking 1946 or the Art Deco era trucks.

Here we are with some of us running around with no tool kit aboard and for sure one day....whammo...flat tire and no tool kit or jack available to get out of the jam were in!! Just that friendly tow truck driver with a $75 bill to take us home!

I couldn't find a good place for tools in my 46 either. That's why I built a trunk to go in the bed.

There is a little space behind the seat, between the seat riser and the rear wall of the cab. The only problem with that is if you have an orig. seat it's kind of a pain to get to. You have to lift straight up on the seat back and remove it to get back there. Not real handy.

I have a Glide Eng. seat which does fold forward but I used the area behind the seat for my radio. All my tools are in the trunk I built, easier to get ot and it will hold a lot of stuff.
