Working on a 1965 c-80 low cab forward and in need of some suggestions on what kind / style bed to build for it. Was a fire truck so the wheelbase is pretty long which makes it not a good candidate for a tractor without cutting the frame. like for it to look period correct. Ideas / pictures anyone? Also did they ever make visors that go outside above the windshield for these model trucks, like the older trucks?

Sounds like a great truck for a Rollback, but if you are looking for period correct, a flatbed or a grain body would probably be the most popular. It really would depend on what you would want to use it for, unless the truck would be for show only.

What is the CA? (Back of the Cab to the center of the rear Axel)?

Also I'm not aware of any factory visors out there for '60 to '66 trucks. (It actually already has a small visor built in).

most tractors of that era seemed to use as short a wheelbase as they get away with due to overall lenght laws. long wheel base tractors became more prevelent east of mississippi in the late 80's. all that being said build what you like we'll enjoy it.

Mr. Goodwrench, Chevrolet Low Cab Forward trucks, are actually "L" series trucks, & not "C" series trucks(which are regular conventionals). so if your truck is indeed a Low Cab forward "LCF", it's actually a L80. I've owned five of them, a 1960 Chevy L80 tractor, 1965 L80 Holmes Wrecker, 1964 L60H equipment hauler/cab, & chassis, & a couple of 1965 L60's. I forget the year and model, but if I remember correctly it has a 6-71 Detroit. It looks clean, and a nice looking flat bed. But the several times I have seen it in person I think that is an awfully big truck for such a short flat bed, also looks somewhat mismatched with the bed being narrower than the tires.

What type of truck/bed would be most useful to you?

Good looking jimmie Grigg.... my wifes father had a pair of them excepet they were chevys and had 427's in them (what a joke, the 427's that is)Thanks for the correction spanky it is a LCF, short hood, lower front corner of the doors cut off at an angle so on. Roll back would be nice but pricy,18' flatbed with beaver tail is probably what it's gonna be. Dont remember the CA or WB right now, will be working on it later today and post later.I have picture If I can figure out how to post them. Thanks guys.
