The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop 48 chevy engine?

I have a 48 chevy 3/4 tonne with an engine that I thought was original.

The casting #'s are GM28 3835794. the stamping behind the distributer is AFCA548165

I have tried looking them up, and i get mixed results. some sorces say it is from a 47 truck, some say 52 or 53.

I kind of hope its original, just for the heck of it.

It runs very well, and does not burn eny oil.

Is this engine the original?

I'll presume its original unless i get fonflicting information... then I'll just get confused again.
