It aint that much of a job to pull the engine, and take off the front clip,or sheetmetal as some call it. At this point you have everything in full view to take the proper measurements, remove the old suspension, etc. On mine I had to install new side motor mounts, the original ones were on the front of the motor.Above all when you install the M2 crossmember, measure, measure then measure again to make sure everything is lined up properly before you weld it in.Good luck. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,082 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,082 | thanks dale. i am now leaning torward a dropped axle. seems a little less work..thanks again guys. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,554 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,554 | Ok Ratrodking,as far as dropped axle versus M2 it all depends on how you want your truck to ride and handle. I have had street rods with dropped front axles and they still ride and handle rough. with independent suspension, the ride is much better and it handles a lot better. My 55 runs down the road like a new truck.Course it also has power rack and pinion steering.Good luck which ever way you go. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | Dale is right; it boils down to the ride question. There are several ways to get the look you want but if you want to improve the ride well...

Someone told me that they work well. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 58 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 58 | TC, If you want MII then check out Fatman Fabs or Heidt's. Tci is ok, but the other two are better known and wanted. Air ride technologies has there own arms , so if your going to bag it with their equipment then i would stick with their arms also. Dave
