Just a note to say Hi,

I've been reading here for some time since getting a '66 SWB stepside last summer. Just got around to sending a writeup & pics for the gallery. Long time car nut, Chevy guy, drag racer, street rods, Corvettes and amused by anything with wheels or propellers. Semi-retired(in my mind at least) engineer havin' a ball with my toys.

Great to be here guys.

I've been parts searching lately and just got springs & sway bars! I'm going to start putting them on today in between working on the race cars. My last contract just expired on the 31st so I'm "retired" again with time to play with my toys.

I'll update the Photo bucket as progress warrants,
keep wavin',

Hey Lori,

I was just in Pensacola last New Years Eve, nice area except for the hurricane damage! Not like it used to look.

I like your truck, reminds me of a Dreamsicle!

Who's spring kit did you guys use? Did you also go to power
brakes?

Later, Dave

Dave.

I have been driving 1966 Chevrolet trucks daily for over 22 years. In my opinion, the '66 trucks are the BEST ones they ever made. grin

Hi Dave!

We went with CPP for it all. Went to powerbrakes with discs in the front and kept the drums in the rear, but changed all of it to 5-lug. They ended up sending us the cross-drilled/slotted by mistake and when I called them, they said dont worry about it!

What a difference all of it made!

Pensacola is nice, but we leave here in a month for...who knows where? Ahh the military life...lol.

Are you changing yours to 5-lug and power too? I love your truck!

...Lori

Lori, I'm staying with the 6 lug for now, too many other toys need attention. I just got the springs from CPP for now and a swaybar, when I go 5 lug I'll do the PB, PS, new wheels, .......

sixtyfive, thanks, right now it's a 30 footer but I'm pickin' at it!

Yes, the seat is an original, just recovered.

Don't know about about the sway bar yet. I had most of the front suspension apart and had to put it back together so I could use the truck to haul furniture last weekend. I'll get back to it soon and post the results here for you.

Don't forget the wave!

I've thought about going with a sway bar to make it a little more street friendly, make sure to take plenty of pics during/after the install. We love pics here! pix

I know what you mean by more street friendly, the thing feels like it's gonna' tip over if you take a turn with any spirit!

Yeah the body roll is pretty bad. Lets face it, these trucks weren't designed to be hotrods
