Squeeze, I've had lots of V motors...........but no pics! :o
The 283, IMHO, is the best engine they ever made. Had a set up vey similar to yours about 10 years ago in a '57 3600. Gotta love the oil filler tube in the intake, they should have kept those. The 2G is a good carb., but I ran a 4G intake with an adapter so I could use a Holley 4160.
Yes, it worked! Had to jet it down some......... eek

I started out with 265 heads on it (for those who don't know, they had a different bolt pattern for the rocker covers; ever wonder why they have the extra holes in the gaskets? That's why! They also had no water jacket around the spark plugs).
I even had early covette rocker covers eek . Dumb kid that I was, a buddy conned me out of them for $10   . Talk about kicking myself now!

GMC248

I just saw a set of 283 power pack heads with the offset valve cover screws and matching corvette covers at speed shop grand opening yesterday for $200.00. I am tempted to buy them for the 65 283 in my 65 GMC. Now if I had just bought the 2x4 intake with oil tube for WCFB's on small block for $100.00 two years ago at Cruisin the Coast in Gulfport! Currently mine is just another small block with a bumch of chrome.

Sure ,I have a bunch of inline engines but to tell you the truth, nothing beats the sound feel of an American V-8. be it a old 283 or a ground shaking 502 .Wound up tight through the gears or sitting there at an idle, rumpa, rumpa, rumpa. As a young man it was all big inch Detriot iron ,wouldn't be caught driving a 6 cylinder. We used to call guys who drove 6 cylinders,"street squirrels"
Its all Joy's fault, she loves the 6's. I would cash in all the Stovebolts for a 67-68 primered big block powered Camaro in a NY minute.

The gray on squeeze's 283,would that be the correct shade on a '64 also?

I've been thinking about redoing mine.

try searchin the board for engine color info, kicks. there's been a couple threads on it. I don't recall the link right now, but there's a chart somewhere on the net for all years GM's. for the task force, the light trucks where gray, heavier ones somethin else, cars, blue.
