Purchased a NAPA Echlin Carburetor kit, #2-5096, to rebuild a Carter 2100S.
Although the kit has many parts and gaskets, I'm not finding the correct parts for the 2100S.
First problem is the needle and seat assembly for the float.
The kit has two different needle & seat packages.
One is the solid needle w/ seat & gasket, #31-502, 04E4. (requires the clip, not included)
The other is the spring-loaded needle w/ seat & gasket, #31-560, 05D4.
My old needle is steel, spring-loaded w/ the Carter seat that had the extended tip. I'm guessing they did away with the extended tip, so that's not a problem.
I installed the new seat, w/ spring-loaded needle & gasket. The seat alone is 1/8" higher, almost on level with the float pin holes.
I did not try to make the float adjustments because it is too far out.
The next problem is the "pump discharge ball" & weight. My 2100S has the (superceded) pointed needle. No needle in the kit either.
Did I get a bad kit or buy from the wrong manufacturer?
Also, does the 2100S throttle body have a washer or seal as listed in other carbs in Carter Manual for year 1949.
