Where do I find the casting date on my 1950 engine block. I can find the casting # and the vin but not the casting date.

If it's a 235 then snuggled up next to the starter should be the castings. Mine says B 262. Meaning it was casted Feb 26, of 1962. You need a strong flashlight and a retired tooth brush to clean up the area really well. Keep scrubbing and scraping. It will be there.

I have a 235 in the truck and a 216 for parts. I'm trying to find the date on both. Is it located in the same place for both engines?

Same general area near starter. It may be behind it requiring removal to see numbers.

Here's a shot I just took of mine. White arrow is pointing to the elusive casting number while the stamped (assembly) number is to the right....
