about how much gap should i have between the front of the door and the rear of the front fender? on mine the top and bottom of fender have a little less that 1/4 inch, but in the middle it almost touches. i think it is because my patch panel is in this area on the fender.

The gap should be the same (roughly) all around the door. It's hard to diagnose long distance, especially without pics, but that type of fitment should have been addressed when the patch panel was installed. If it is caused by a mis-fit patch panel you may have some cutting/grinding & rewelding to do.

I've read somewhere that if everything is perfect the gaps should be 5/32". My truck is far from perfect so I settled for getting the doors to open and close easily.
