OK I'm looking for bolt-on overload springs for when I tow my trailer and was wondering if anyone has fit "hellwig" or maybe another manufacturer's springs to 1951 stock, 2" wide, 1/2 ton springs? Or maybe another idea but I'd like to keep this Carryall Suburban as original as possible, thats why i say "bolt on". Spoke to "hellwig" directly and they didn't offer much help is also why I'm asking. Many Mahalo's

I'm sure they could fix you up with some progressive overloads that won't affect your ride when you are not loaded. I have a set on my truck, but they were there when I got it. They contact the frame through some pads when there is over about 500 lbs in the bed.

#37749 04/13/2004 5:02 AM | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 85 Member | | Member Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 85 | Aloha, Yeah i called "Long Beach spring and forge" and they want $150 per spring, read $300! still have 1 more place I know of, "warren spring" to call, if any Los Angeles area locals know of a good place please advise, But keep in mind bolt on Hellwig kits run about $125 total.
Ok the plot thickens, called "hellwig", they don't have anything that narrow but I gave them dimensions from my trusty GM "restoration package" and they gave me a part that is used on fjord rangers '98-'04 but I'll have to fabricate spacers to fit between the U-bolts and genny springs, shouldn't be a problem, If anyone cares I'll keep ya posted on the outcome.
