The inline 6 engine has not been started in 4 years, was running when parked. Probably will pull the engine for a mild rebuild.
The transmission is missing, SO... what transmission came in this truck and are they available, somewhere? Are there still rebuild kits if I find a used one? Optional was a 4 speed. If it had a column shift it was the 3 speed & if it has a hole in the tunnel it had a 4 speed. Automatics were available but not very common. You can find used ones by posting on the parts wanted section on the swap meet on this website. Seals gaskets & brgs are readily available & hard parts are still around. A lot of Stovebolters are putting S-10 5 speeds in these trucks to get the o-drive. There is a lot of info on the swap in the Tech section & search.

I bought a Mustang convertible last year. 1989 5.o w/5 speed. It,s been a fun summer car. I havn,t been to a drag strip in 50 years. Back then you drove your daily driver to the strip, pulled the hubcaps, & took out the spare tire & went raceing. If you blew something one of your buddies pulled you home.

Welcome. I just got a 63 about a month ago with a 74 SB 350 and a Turbo 350 tranny. I am planning on swapping them soon so if you are interested let me know.
If not I will probably be selling some motors/trans soon but want to get feedback from members first so you will see a post soon. I also want to be compliant with the rules on SB.com so I have to look into what it takes to sell on here.
imo, scrap the 6 and get a better engine, even if used because it will bolt right in and you will enjoy the power and reliability.
