Are there any small block performance springs that you can buy to use with a high lift/long duration cam for a 250/292? In other words, will any of the small block performance valve springs interchange on the 230-292 head?

They seem to be the same diameter, and approximately the same installed height. Try Engnbldr.com in Portland, Oregon for some killer prices on high performance valve springs, retainers, keepers, etc. You can afford to buy a set of their V-8 .600"-lift spring, keeper, and retainer sets, and pitch the extras, the cost is so reasonable. I use them in the roundtrack engines I build, at 6,500 RPM or more, with no problems.

Here's a direct link to their valve spring page. The .550 lift spring is OK for hot street cams, but I prefer the .600 spring for roundtrack racing.

Good people, and really good prices!

I have a set of performance springs for a 292 I got from Ken Brown to use on my 302 GMC project.Single spring, with a damper, identical to 1.225 diameter small block V-8 stuff. They are good for around 5500 rpm max,not that the 302 is gonna rev that high, set up for 100 lbs pressure with the valve on it's seat, good for .500 lift.I'll have to fiddle with retainers and or spring seats to get them set up on the GMC.
