Good pics Don....glad to see you got your lifters. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed on mine! So far, so good!

don i am also in the middle of a rebuild, my 235 is a 60 and the head is a 55. i have an oil line ran around the head to oil the rockers just like in your picture. i do not have the line behind the push rod cover. also even if i had that line there is not a hole in the bottom of the head to let oil up from the block.
should i just leave the external line or drill the head and
install a line behind the rocker cover? philip

Philip - I would suggest that you post your question as a new topic in the engine and driveline shop in addition to doing a thorough search of the 'Bolt pertaining to your question.

There are true experts here that can give you an answer to your question. While I understand what you want to accomplish my experience to the inline 6 is limited to just my old 216 and my current '57. Good luck and I'll be interested in seeing what the big guns have to say.

i have posted that topic before, everyone seems to think it was done this way to fix a plugged gallery but i see no other way it can oil without the external line thats why i think it has to do with the 55 head. does your head have a hole in the head that lines up with one in the block deck?

Well... unfortunately my head is about 60 miles away and is being reassembled by the Blockheads who previously "remanufacturered" it so I can't answer your question by taking a look. If you would have asked the question prior to yesterday I could have given you an answer as I took the block back to them as well as the new lifters and a new aluminum timing gear to replace the original that they banged on with a hammer. I came to within a hairs breath of collecting all of the parts and reassembling the engine myself but those dudes owe me big time. I just hope the "head guy" keeps his nose in the job this time.

As far as your oil galley being plugged it would seem simple enough to verify if that was the case or not by blowing air through each port.

Nyet! Nobody worth their salt is going to knurl pistons these days.

You can get .080 over pistons from PATRICKS

You and I are in the same boat... we're both already .060 over and needing a rebore. I called every machine shop I could find within 100 miles of Raleigh and not a one had the equipment to knurl nor would they recommend the procedure.

You can actually go .125 over but you need forged pistons at $500+. Point is, the walls can easily take .080 over so I can't find any reason to hesitate. Just hope another .020 will do the job.

Who's doing your engine? I'm getting ready to take mine to John West in Raleigh. I was very impressed with their shop and the man who would be doing the work. I'm confident they can do the job right.

Well, that makes two calls because I'm calling to get mine today.

Gotta' say I missed Deep Creek Motors. They must not be in the Raleigh Yellow Pages.

Good luck and stay in touch. If I can help you with anything, PM me. You know there's a big swap meet at the Fair Grounds in March, right? You can get some good deals there, the event is huge.
