You'll just need to swap the entire front clip, of the earlier truck, to your '55 1st series. You have to ruin the fenders to do it. None of the bolt holes line up so you have to drill your own. You also have to cut the grille opening on the fenders square,instead of rounded at the top corners.
The filler panel(splash pan) is different. And the 54 fenders have indents for parking lights.

I think if I were born in '55 and wanted a birth year truck I'd choose the one that was availble the day I was born.
I don't recall the exact model change date, but it was spring time, like March or April, so if you were born later in the year maybe you want the second series truck instead?
