I know a guy who wants to get rid of one and I'd like to buy it to put my stuff on and build as I get stuff done. It looks ok, but I will have it blasted anyway.
Question 2: What do I do with the rear differential and similar parts? Blasting sounds like a bad idea, as it would seem to get sand in all the bad places. What do you guys do? I'm thinking about POR or Zerorust, better ideas anyone? MARTINSR, your thoughts please???? | | |

Second if are going to rebuild the rear end sand blast and then clean clean clean. However I think the wire cup on a 4.5" grinder will be your best friend for clean up.

Last one I cleaned I first scraped all the gunk of I could, then attacked it with degreaser mixed with hot water and a wire brush. (I don't own a powerwasher). Followed with zinc phosphate etch, then I sprayed on Rustoleum black hammered finish rust encapsulating paint. Krylon and Hammerite also make similar paints, Hammerite also has it in a smooth finish. These paints are similar to the Por-15, but not as nasty to work with. I did this last summer and drove through a very salty winter, so far no rust has appeared.

I did what James suggested. Grinding pads and wire wheeled the entire rear axle housing and torque tube followed by ZR and then a semi gloss. http://community.webshots.com/album/111968325LqgnhX
