Have removed the steering wheel and horn cap on 62 c-10. My turn signal knob was removed at some point and I now would like to repair and replace mechanism in the steering column.
Does anyone have pictures of what the turn signal linkages should look like?

I do not have any good photos of the turn signal mechanism, however, there are many great "exploded-view" illustrations in the 1963 Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual (covers 1960-1963) and the 1960-1966 Chev/GMC Truck Assembly Manual, showing the turn signal mechanism. I recommend these books for anyone who owns a '60-'66 Chevy Truck. They are available at:

www.lmctruck.com
www.classicparts.com
www.bowtiebits.com
www.oldchevytrucks.com

among others. Good luck with your project and I hope this information is helpful.

Thanks. I have the shop manual but I did not think to look in the others. Thanks for reply.

The 1960-62 trucks had a pop metal oval type ring that has 2 tabs for the "cancrlling" of the signal. There is a pitment arm that connects this ring to a cable.

This cable runs down to the very bottom of the steering column where the turn signal switch is located.

You can pick up the metal "o" ring, bolt, turnsignal arm, etc in the truck parts catalogues.

Thanks for response. I have a cable external to steering col. and a switch at the base of the col. as you suggest. Not sure I know how the linkages come together. I can not find the exploding views. Do you have a picture?

Chance I can resurrect this question. I couple of us are in a struggle. I have not found the exploding view of the 62 column and a good description of installation of column bearing and turn signal mechanism. My truck did not arrive (years ago) with the innards of the column so I had nothing to take picture of or a sequence to reverse. I am not real confident that I can just order the parts and install. Would like to know what I am in for prior to purchase.

I have a suspicion the bearing needs replacing and that is why I may tackle the turn signal finally.

HB, if you can post a picture looking at your column from the top, without wheel attached, I can compare to my 1960 and see if I can help. I need to see what all you are missing. .

OK. Will get after that soon. The 66 is taking my freetime over the next few weeks.
