old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 19 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 19 | A buddy of mine gave me a stock 350 engine that came out of his 1972 chevy 1/2 ton. Is it hard to upgrade the engine to a RAM JET setup?

It's known that a lot the late 60s and early 70s sbc had cams with soft lobes. The last two that I've had a 68 sbc 327 and a 72 4x4 350, both had bad cams.

Its not as easy as all that. As mentioned cam lift nees to be checked, head breathability and configuration though Vortec heads do help. Going to cost a fair amount of money to do it right. Might just buy a 383 stroker motor and install it. Or`get a crate 330 hp motor from the dealer. You'll like it and its easier than trying to convert, beleive me I know. A lot less headaches. Just a suggestion. | | |
