| | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 9 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 9 | I am trying to remove a gas tank from a 1938 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup, and removed the two straps and the grommet to the filler but still can't get it to come out. Is there something I am overlooking or do I need a bigger hammer?

I'm sorry you're rodding it instead of restoring it but having said that anything's better than the crusher. If you have your straps off & the fuel line removed it should just lift out. Hopefully someone in the past didn't glue it in. Does it move some, just won't come all the way out or is it still solidly in place as though there still fasteners in place?

As far as rodding it, I had to, it already had been done with a 350,auto and 12 bolt rear end, they even chopped the frame and shortened it.
