We are trying to complete the metalwork for our S-10 frame conversion on our 54 and require a little bit of assistance. Our original 54 didn't have stock bumpers on it (they were farm utility bumpers), so we didn't have any exact placement of the stock bumpers.

We are using a stock-type 54 chrome bumper with the indention for the license plate in the middle.

Rear Bumper
Can anyone out there point me to some pics of the stock bumper placement in relation to the rear cross sill? Does the bumper sit below the bottom the cross sill, or does it cover any part of it? How far behind the rear cross sill does the bumper need to go?

Front Bumper
We are going to use the splash apron between the 54 grille and the bumper: http://www.brotherstrucks.com/prodinfo.asp?number=FSA54FB
Based on that, how far in front of the splash apron should the front bumper go? How about placement up-and-down on the truck?

Finally, if anyone has some detailed pics straight on front and back and then from the sides of their stock location AD bumpers, that would really be greatly appreciated. I have a few pics from another truck I found at a car show, but at the time I didn't know I wanted detailed pics of the bumper placement, so they don't really help me that much.

Thanks,
Thomas

p.s. - Updated pics of our project our available at the URL listed in my signature.

I'm not sure if it'll be exactly right for your '54,but assuming AD's were pretty much alike, the rear bumber would normally attach straight across the side frame rails using the stock bumper brackets. That is it would have a center point between the rails and parallel to the bed.On mine there is considerable space between the bumber and bed.On the front mine had the apron tucked a little into the front bumber using the stock brackets.I have no pics ,but there are plenty on this site.

There's probably a hundred 54's in the gallery. Some of them should have the view you're after. Look here:

Thanks for the link. Been looking through the pics. Found a lot of pics, but no straight-on front/back shots to show the profile of the bumper against the body, or close-up side shots to show how far away it is from the body. I can probably make do with a few of these pics if noone else can take some specific shots for me.

Here is a few pics of my trucks. Page 3 has a side view of orange truck and page 4 has a straight ahead front and rear view on the green truck. I'll put the first four shots on page 1 showing the front and rear mounts for an AD bumper on the S10 frame.

coilover!, cool rides do you happen to have any pic's of the AD on the s-10 body mounts? thinking of doing a burb and some info on the body swap would help.
