I know the 1941 truck should have a plain tailgate, but this is what's available locally - and I quite like the lettered one. Cheers D

I think the hinges are different ? It also looks a little beat up. Add that to the cost to ship it from England, and I think you should keep looking.

It requires some surgery on the tailgate to narrow its span as the AD bed is wider that the Art Deco. The 1940 was the last with the scripted lettering, the 1941 had none.

Well worth bookmarking. The 1941 tailgate is http://chevy.tocmp.com/chevyresto/4122.htm 48 1/2 inches and the 1950 tailgate http://chevy.tocmp.com/chevyresto/5061.htm is 50 inches. I think you could make the 1950 one fit by using the old 1941 frame, could be worth the £20 to try :lol: The 1938 - 40 tailgates are the same size as the 41's though.

Found the cat on another forum - Classic Cars - while looking for parts for another possible truck. This one was in really good - rust free - condition, with original wood and a runner. Never been across the pond, but hoping to for our summer hols this year - with a BIG suitcase for Chevy spares (just don't tell the wife) Cheers Dave
