I am beginning a rebuild on a '50 3600. I have used the search feature till I look like a search feature and can't find anything.

My question is: Is there a way to convert the Huck brakes on a 3600 as there is on the 3100? I don't need a detailed description (it will be greatly appreciated, though) just a point in the right direction.

This is the first of many questions, I'm sure.

I am putting Bendix front brakes on my '52 3600.
Pretty much all you need to do is drill the top spindle holes
out to 1/2" and it's a bolt up from there.
Use your original hubs and bearings.

The rear axle Bendix upgrade should just be a simple bolt up job with no modifications.

is there any difference in the parking brake cable?

One of the great things about this change is that new brake drums are readily available.

When you can find the Huck drums...they are quite spendy

I am planning that conversion on my 49 half ton. However in one of the tech tips I read it stated that you may have to enlarge the spindle hole in the backing plate.

trucker, the '53 and up parking brake cables are different.
I'm not sure what the exact difference is, but the parts catalog shows a different number for '53 and '54. I am only doing the upgrade on the front for now.

oldblu, the Bendix backing plates already have the large top holes. You have to enlarge the spindle holes to match the backing plate.

I just did a preliminary fit up of the Bendix setup on my '52 axle this morning. One thing I did find is that you need to remove a little material from the backing plate below where the wheel cylinder mounts to clear the top of the spindle. See
circled area in photo. I suppose you could grind the top of the spindle for the clearance also as there is a lot of meat there.

Yes thank you. I was not aware of have to remove material from the backing plates in that area. I presume you do not remove much.
