Hy bucket, seeing as how nobody else has answered you, I'll give it a try, yes the whole front clip can be removed as a unit and it will give you the best view when removing the engine. If you're going to part it out anyway then you will already have the clip ready to go should anyone want it. There will be bolts at the top and bottom of the fenders, and there may be some in the door jamb as well, then probably under the rad support, then lift it off with your engine lift and set it aside, there will also be wiring and possibly other things that are connected between the cab and front clip, hope that helps.

Bucket,

I just pulled the 350 V8 from a 1972 C50 and only removed the radiator and front accessories. I didn't even remove the hood. Chained the engine very close to the hook and was able to clear everything.

The '72 is very similar to the '68.

I removed my 4-53T from a 78 GMC 6500, it was simple, I think the fenders stayed, but removed grill radiator, and core support all as one. I used a crane, so the hood came off too.

One time I took off the front clip and the next time it was just the hood and radiator support. If you are parting it out, I'd take off the clip and make it easier.

If you have a crane to go high enough you can pull them without pulling the hood or the radiator. Time you take the fan off you have nothing but space. I used to pull them in an hour back in my younger day,s.

I pulled a small block out of a 66 C60 about 2 weaks ago. I removed the hood and radiator and used a chain hoist in barn.
