Hi Everyone,

A couple of days ago I was watching the Barrett-Jackson auction and a '33 Chevy coupe came across the block, it was painted a deep green color that the announcers called Fathom Green. They said it was a 69-70 GM color.

I went down to my paint supplier and looked at the Chevy colors for those years and did not find anything that looked like the color of the coupe or was named Fathom Green. I still need to check the other GM makes for those years, but I was just wondering if anyone knows about that color and what the DuPont or PPG codes might be.

Appreciate any info, thanks.

Mike

Mike,

I do not know if it is the same Fathom Green, but a Dupont code for Fathom Green is given in this Tech Tip. It was used on 1947-49 Chevrolet Suburbans.

When I get home tonight, I'll try to find out how far back that code for Fathom Green was used.

Tim

Hi Tim,

Yeah, you're right, that color is listed in the Tech Tips chart. Interestingly, I have the color chart that Bill Adler sends out and that color is not shown. I have another source for paint chips around here (Northwestern Washington), I'll get out there and have a look too.

The one I saw on the auction block appeared to be a metallic.

Thanks for the reply.

Mike
