Hello,
As I am getting ready to pull my cab, I have been advised to replace my wiring harness..which sounds like a great idea. Can anyone recommend a cost friendly solution or source? So far the best price I found is with American Classic truck parts at 195.00. I have an alternator not a generator. I do have a harrison Deluxe heater that I believe was installed at the factory, I am not sure if the harness kits include these pieces.

yes, if the existing wiring isn't 100% good looking, it's best to replace with new - that's about the price they all have, and what I've paid - there will be 2 listed, one for "w/ generator", one "w/ alternator" ... the heater just uses an 'accessories' power source wire from the ign switch

also if the truck doesn't have a fuse panel, just above the pedals [they usually only added that if it was ordered with a number of acessories], it's worth getting one, which usually include some accessory wires

I am looking at:
EZ wire
Hot Rod Wire
and the American Classic Parts Harness.

If I have a 58 that has an alternator, a cab light, and a heater how many circuits should I be looking for.

would a 12 circuit harness do the trick?
Do you typically need to purchase an additional harness for the heater?
Has anyone used the shrink tubing?

I will have to wire my 4t6 sooner or later and have considered Rebel Wire . They have a 8 circuit kit for $120 and a 10% for Stovebolt contributors. Never used them but another option I'm considering. Good luck.

my opinion is the factory style repro harness that is tape wrapped is much preferable to the rod style harnesses that have exposed wires that are zip-tied, and the extra runs included aren't needed if you're not planning on things like electric rad fan or AC, electric windows, etc ... a number of folks here like the rod style ones tho

no extras required with the standard harnesses available, including shrink tubing, although where you custom fit length [mostly rear, left long for long beds, cut for short beds] it is a nice touch, easy to use
