When I first noticed a problem, the gauge would fluctuate from empty to full or anywhere in between. This was with the truck parked in the yard with the engine running. I was having a problem with trash from the old fuel tank clogging up the fuel filter and gunking up the carb so I decided to buy a new tank and sending unit. I figured the new sending unit would solve the fuel gauge problem but it hasn't. Now the gauge doesn't move off of the empty mark.

Must have been a bad connection at the sending unit. I disconnected the wire then connected it again and the gauge works but it isn't correct. The tank is at least 1/2 full and the gauge shows 1/4.
