I need to know what the main caps are supposed to be torqued to. I've searched, but I can't find anything. Thanks. John


1968 Chevy C-10, 250 and 3 speed on floor, Hedman headers, Offy intake, Edelbrock 600cfm 4 barrel, HEI
1966 Chevy C-10, motor and tranny went into the '68. Waiting to be restored.

On your 250 - 65 ft/lbs. MAX! And step torque them at that (first 35 ft/lbs. then increase the torque 10 ft/lbs until you're done).

I broke two main bolts putting my 292 together 2 years ago. For some reason I thought the mains were torqued at 95 ft/lbs eek . Stupid me. :rolleyes:

ftyler- Thanks. I finally found it. I step torqued it 32 then to 65. Thanks. John
