I am running a 37 bellhousing behind a 56 261 engine. You can run a 58-60 235 in front of your 37 bellhousing. The 37 flywheel (139 teeth) will work, but you will have to use a 6 volt starter. You can do that and run 12 volts to it, but you can't crank the starter very long at a time. I ran a 6 volt starter for years. The clutch will work on the 235, but if you are going to a 235, it probably would be a good idea to go to a larger clutch, which you can do on the 37 flywheel.
It might be easier to say that you can mix the parts together pretty well with success, but if you are interested in the best set up, the newest is probably the best. That would be the 168 tooth flywheel, which is a 12 volt flywheel with which you will need a 12 volt starter coupled with a truck clutch. The truck flywheels are the ones that accept the larger clutches. Then there are the aftermarket racing flywheels that also allow you to use a larger clutch. I'm running a vintage Scheifer aluminum flywheel on my truck.
