9.375 eaton housing?, this rear is in a 1959 chevy apache.
Will I need to look for a rearend out of a 71-82 four wheel drive?

Bill | | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 4 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 4 | red58,the truck is a 1/2 ton apache fleetside 1959,the rear has ten bolts on rear cover and pinion side is bolted in as well.I was told before on this site my rear was an eaton 9.375 ring gear and could not be made positive traction.Would like to know of options.It is the original rear one legger with 3.90 gearing.Thank you for your response.Any 6 lug reasonable price posi, that will work behind mild 350 is my aim.

You might get lucky and find a 3rd member from a '60-'62, which was the only years thaat posi was offered in that diff, but it's very unlikely due to the rarity (I know, I've been looking for one myself). As far as oe posis in a '59, they used a Spicer 45 (Dana 44) rear end from a GMC. You cauls swap one of those in, it'sll have the right width, and posi units are available for it easily.
