I have found out that my original 51 GMC air cleaner is bent at the neck or something and now I have been looking at a bunch of aftermarket options for air cleaners. Most seem to be for stromberg 97's though, and I'm not sure how the air cleaner attaches on those. What air cleaner options are there for these simple zenith carbs? Is there any way you could use these types of air cleaners on my carb?

On the search on this site, go to air cleaner, then 1951, then GMC, and it should come up with a good list. Is there anyway I could use these?

Would the top two on this list work?

These would be cool also, but how would you use them?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The one from Bitchin' is meant for a 4bbl carb. I would say the ones from Riley auto would be better, I used a pair of 6 1/2" air filters from Mr. Gasket http://www.mr-gasket.com/pdf/accessories.pdf Although I did replace the elements with K&Ns. They come with amn adapter ring to fit them to different necks, and there's other rings listed on the bottom of the page for smaller sizes.

None of the little 4" diameter air cleaners flow enough air for your engine, and it will run like crap. I had this problem with my 261, I ended up using a Mr. Gasket 4" and stacking two elements on top of each other.

Do you happen to remember the part number for your air cleaner from Mr. Gasket? I don't know which one would be best. I went out and measured my carb and it is 2 5/16" diameter.
