For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 17 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 17 | Been reading in the forums about the different style hinge pin kits to "fix" the hinges on our '54.
Who makes the best kits for repairing our hinge pins? Should I look for the brass bushing style or the stand-alone enlarged pins?
Has anyone ever used the hinge pin kits from LMC truck?
Thanks, Thomas

I got some help & guidance from fellow bolters and it all went well. The kit I had came with the truck so I am not sure who makes the best kits. I do know that Classic Parts sells them at a very good price. Their stuff so far has been great. Check out Photbucket pics. on this subject. Hope this will help. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 | I just did both of my doors and used the Classic Parts they fit perfectly. This is a great link on how to do it. https://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/328064#Post328064I will tell you that having redone my hinges and removing my doors a couple times that a simple trick to reassembly is to rotary file the door where the hinge slips into it. I then use a dab of grease on the hinge itself and they slide right on. I can now remove and install the doors myself in just a couple of minutes.
