I'll try and send some pictures once I figure out how. Meanwhile, here are the numbers. Can you tell me what they mean exactly? On the firewall the tags say: International 6LS 1419 A29004.The engine code is: T 2018536. The carb is a brass bowl Carter: C RJH 08. Thanks to advice from you, I first thumped on the valve stems with a brass hammer. 3 were stuck, but they loosened up. Then I tried to turn it over with the fan after pulling the plugs. Stuck. Then it budged. I squired my old farmers unsticker juice ( 3/4 diesel and 1/4 ATF) After a bit, it freed up, and now turns over freely on the starter with all the valves working. I'll get the motor converted to 12 volt, and try to fire it one of these days soon. If my memory is right the first number "6" is the assembly plant, in this case it's Oakland (Flint is #1, Tarrytown is #2...}. The next two letters are the year/series, "LS" indicates 1930 "second half"..."LR" is 1930 first half and "LQ" is 1929..."LT" is first half 1931. I can't help with the rest of the fire wall tag numbers without some further research. Your engine also says it's a 1930. Serial numbers for 1929 are from #1 thru 1265800. 1930 are from 1365366 thru 2100284 (1265801 thru 1365365 were not used in production). 1931 goes from 2100285 thru 2951552. Hope this helps... The old truck hasn't been licensed or titled since 1952. I have the paperwork in process with DMV on the assumption that it was a '29, so when I get it Titled, I'll go back and fix that problem. I'll get some pictures out and let you know how it goes when I fire it up. It is very cool that it is undoubtedly the original engine, since putting a replacement motor in the many years since 1930 was very normal. I looked it over better....It is a"Universal" confirming your 1930 conclusion. If you look at some newer topics under"old Family truck" there is a link to some pictures. Thanks, TerryJ | | |
