i hope im posting in the right area..... so i just picked up the truck of my dreams right before christmas. it was the kind of story that normally you only read about and im so greatful that i was able to experience one of my own. anyways, 65 swb big back window, all original, no rust, numbers matching etc. the only problem i have with it is that it is a four speed and has the big humped cab instead of the column shift small hump cab. anyways, what im hoping to put an automatic in it and was wondering if anyone has ever done this kind of a conversion

There is a write-up going the other way on this site:

gmcguy.org

The write up is for folks with 3 speeds that want to convert to 4 speeds. I would think the procedure for your conversion would be similar. There are 2 pieces that need to be changed to get to a small hump rather than just one. The section welded at the front of th removable pan is also different.

I hope this is helpful.
