I have replaced all ignition parts, cleaned the carb. It appears to be the stock 1-bbl Rochester carb. I am having trouble getting the truck to idle. Can anyone tell me:
> How many turns should I run-out the mixture
screw at the base of the carb?
> How do I adjust the idle speed when I have the
mixture correct?
> The truck doesn't seem to want to start without
a shot of starting fluid. What does this mean?

Thanks for your help. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 14 Member | | Member Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 14 | I turned mine out 2 turns as a starting point, idle speed is then adjusted with a screw on the throttle linkage on the drivers side of the carb toward the firewall. I also noticed that the timing made a big difference in the idle speed. there are several threads about carb adjustment here if you use the search function. what part of indiana are you located in, I am in Fishers In.
Rog | | | | | Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 2,773 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 2,773 | How did you adjust your points? It's tough to get them right with a feeler gauge unless you have a lot of practice. If you can locate a dwell meter, you can be far more accurate.
