Can anyone post a picture of a correct muffler mount for a 49 1/2 ton? I've got three pieces but am not sure how they mount to the muffler and to the frame. Thanks

rwise,
Do you know how the muffler itselfs is strapped to the curved muffler bracket under the bed? Here's a couple shots. First was taken when I was replacing the front bed rail. Your muffler strap should be a long piece of strap material and a eye bolt connected to one end with bolt and washer. It's hard to explain how the strap is routed and I can always scan a picture for you if necessary.

Oh yes, I assume a '49 and '50 truck were configured the same in this area.

cmayna, I think the 49 and 50 must be somewhat different. I have the similar bracket that you show but a large ubolt that I assume goes around the muffler and into another bracket on the under side of the muffler

No, the 49 is the same as the 50. A strap as Craig described. One of the vendors sell said strap and eye bolt. Although it is not an actual "eye" bolt, but I do not know what to call it. Sounds like someone has been tinkering with your muffler mount.

Boy,
What it takes to satisfy you guys.....

Please note that the tail end of the strap is pinched between the muffler and the strap itself....

Thanks Craig, I guess mine was "re-engineered" over the years. I've got Mothertrucker trying to get me a bracket to get mine back to original. Thanks for the photos and diagram. Robin
