He guys, glad to hear that there is some interest.
I took a few cell phone pics, and I figured that someone on this list would want to know that it is there.
It is remarkably complete for being in a junkyard.
It is located at the junkyard next to GandG wrecking yard, it is a truck only salvage off of route 50 west of Winchester, about a mile from the hospital.
If anyone is interested, I can see what kind of price I can get for the whole truck, I will just need a commitment from you folks to do the deal...
If you want, you can take a look at it and see if it is something that you want, and we can go from there.
cheers

Hey Wrench Fetcher, Spent some years in Winchester. Was transferred there to the Fleetwood Terry Travel Trailer Plant. Had a pal who had a pal who owned a big junkyard. Kicked around in there a bit, but not as much fun as doing the same in Oregon. Always had to keep my eyes peeled for those dang copperhead snakes. Took the fun out it for me. Nice truck. Good luck. Hi Kevin,
Where is this junk yard? I am not interested in this truck but I would like to know where the yard is. I like looking around yards that haven't crushed everything that is older. Where around Winchester is it?
Thanks

Hey fellers,
went over today to take a look see. Cab corners look good, some rust around the rear window, some rust around the fenders, but in quite good original shape, unmolested. Gauge glass is missing as are some badges, but she sits pretty complete, all tires full of air.
I tried to turn the engine by hand, and no worky....but I think a towtruck pulling it in gear should get things moving.
Also, it is a two speed rear, I saw the thing under the dash for that....
The good part is........I asked the price and he only wants $600. He said $600 and bring your trailer....
So, let me know if you are interested and I will set it up with the owner of the yard.
cheers

Well, everyone will be glad to know that the truck has been rescued from the crusher and now sits safe, secure, and undismantled here at Stovebolt HQ while we ponder what to do with it.

Grigg, Kevin, Mike and Allan -- great time today -- thanks!

It's been a long day...

You're welcome, Spanky! You know, the camera truly did no favors for this magnificent truck! And I can tell you have a rare eye for these very rare and collectible treasures. I'll make you a deal, as you are my friend -- I really like this truck and was hoping to resore it and share it with my grandchildren as a family legacy some day, but I'll tell you what -- I'll let you have this very valuable and desireable piece of ... um ... history in exchange for a nice COE.

Deal??

grin

John, I like it, but I don't quite like it enough to swap a COE for it. Tell you what though. I know of a nice complete '53 GMC 350 series 2 ton COE, that's about 1 1/2 hrs. drive from me, that can be had, for $1500. I had planned to purchase it myself, but when I purchased the 470 series GMC COE, I put this one on hold.

Good work y'all. As mentioned earlier, the truck looks like it is in pretty good shape.

Grigg, What was under the hood of the GMC 7500? It looks like it is a '66 or '67 model.

I don't know the new trucks that well, but if it's the one with the V6 in it and the feed body on the back I don't know what size engine. No tag in the glove box, and I could not get enough grease scraped off the block in front of the right head to see the number. I don't think it was a very big one though?
