#35054 02/19/2003 4:29 PM | Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 10 Member | | Member Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 10 | I was recently given a 51 1 ton panel, but the last owner had intended to rod the truck and at some point he threw away both axles, engine, tranny, etc. Since 1 ton trucks are scarce in this neck of the woods, I'm trying to figure out if 3/4 ton springs would fit/work under this beast (I want to go back stock). If anyone has any thoughts on this, or better yet has a 3/4 ton and would be willing to measure the length of the springs, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. | | |

In fact, the whole 3/4 ton front axle is the same as the 1/2 ton, except the spindles and the 8 lugs. My gut feeling is the 1 ton is no different.
If you lived nearby, you could come by my house and pick up a 3/4 ton front end for free...

You might be able to use 3/4 ton underpinnings if you modify the spring shackles or add spacer bushings to the shackle pins, but I wouldn't trust that kind of modification to haul a load. | | |
