Does anyone have experience using this product or any type of aniline dyes?

What are the positive and/or negatives?

I am trying to get a brilliant red bed wood. Is this the right way?

I haven't used that product. My only question would be if this were intended for outside exposure to the elements...primarily the sun and its UV rays.

There are probably architectural or marine products that would block the UV rays that you could apply over the dye/stain...or, maybe you park your rig inside.

What does the manufacturer say about using this product outside and the effects of sunlight on it.

I'll have to check on the exposure effects. The product you use to seal the wood after applying the dye is probably more important. But I will check.

I've used aniline dye for part of the running boards on my '46 Panel but I used alcohol based dye not water. It was not this product. Like it has been said you have to use the right top coat to protect it. I used Gold Star Marine urethane. I like the alcohol based dyes, I tested both for my need, they seem to penatrate better and have a deeper color.

I built a sleigh a few years ago and had the same problem, how to get a red stain. I went to Sherwin-Williams and had them mix a red and green stain for me. It was the same type of stains that they use to get walnut, cherry, oak etc. They just mixed in lots of red tint to a mixture of clear stain. It turned out great, used Helmans Spar Urethane to top coat, just as red and green today as it was 10 years ago. It sits outside every Christmas for a month or so every year. Hope that helps.
