#34969 02/29/2004 4:41 AM | Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 2,764 Carburetion specialist | | Carburetion specialist Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 2,764 | A Carter W-1 (Carter made 128 different W-1 carbs) was original equipment in 1941 on Chevrolet, both passenger and truck. The W-1 was Carter's standard 1-barrel during this time, and is an excellent carburetor.
Carter released the YF in 1950. This carb was one of the finest (possibly the finest) 1 barrel carbs ever made. Again, Carter made hundreds of different ones, for many different size engines. YF carbs were very advanced, and continued to be used up through the mid-1980's on other brands.

1. Is that a good exchange?/ will it fit?
2. What is a good rebuild kit brand?/ where can I get them?

These were used on engines from 134 to 300 cubic inches; and thus all YF's are not the same size. If the one you has is one designed for your engine (or a very similiar unit), should work well for you.
I believe board ethics prevent me from answering your second question.
