Got looking further into the boxes of parts that came with the 261's I acquired. Found some distributors with a different cap than a 49- 216 truck and 41- 216 car. The plate that the points attach to has a model # 1112403 - 5E11 stamped on it. Does anyone have a 261 distibutor or a parts book that lists this number as a 261 ?
The engine I have rebuilt is a 1959 with the full oil pressure fittings.

| | | | | Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 1,586 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 1,586 | My GM dealer parts book, big trucks, printed in 1970, lists only one distributer part number as a replacement for all 6 cylinder engines, 50-62 #1112403.Well that kind of simplifies things doesn't it.My other GM parts book for smaller trucks lists the same number. GM doesn't seem to be as concerned about advance curves or the dist drive gear material as we are here. | | |
