I have a 1938 chevy 1/2 ton with no front clip. What years of fenders are interchangable?

I would think '38 and '39. Some of the experts need to let you know for sure. The hood and grille are a little different but the entire '39 clip ought to work.

truckin 1978, I wasn't using my head. I read 1/2 ton but was thinking cars all the way. The '38 through '40 clips should be close to identical. Little bit of difference in the trim on the hood.

thanks, that will help find parts, do you know of any www sites for running vin# on that old of truck? i am going to go look at a truck this weakend but the guy dose not know what year it is.

Trucking, This might help with the VIN Number. 1938 I.D. Plates are located on the firewall. Series are HB for coupe pickup, and sedan delivery; HC for 1/2 ton models, HD for 3/4 Ton;
HE for 1/Ton models. '39 and '40 have the ID plate under the hood on the right side of the body: 1939 Series are JB for Coupe Pickup, and Sedan Delivery; JC for 1/2-Ton models: JD for 3/4-Ton Models; and VA for 1/Ton models. 1940 Series are KB, KH, KC, KP, KD, KF, and WA. Remember, these should be the third and fourth digits in the body ID Number. If you want to post the entire number here, maybe we can help some more.

If the number on your title doesn't match the number on the data plate check your engine number on the boss behind the distributor. If you search the forums using VIN you'll get a ton of info. That's discussed a LOT.
