Lets restart this thread and get the subject right!!!

"MOVIES"!!! I've got "MOVIES"!!

I posted two .MOV files on my Webshots page in the Lucille's Engine Sounds folder. I took them with my Kodak EasyShare digital camera. They are both about two minutes long. One taken from the right side of the engine and the other from the left. There is a bit of static interference coming from the electrical system as I move the camera about. Probably from the coil would be my guess. Anyway, enjoy the show and I'd love to hear all comments!

Is this how a "Stovebolt" 216 engine should sound? I need a good pair of ears out there!!!

Yup, that the sounds you want. The Chevy 6 was a notoriously noisy engine, especially lifter noise. My 235 sound about the same, only lopier due to the cam.

Sounds OK to me but the noise came from the tappets (rockers arms to the uninitiated) not the lifters. Was just a noisy valvetrain but good enough to last, and last and last. It was how to tell if they were working.

WOW! "Old Number 7" sounds just like Lucille!!

Thanks for the video clip! I just needed to hear other people's Stovebolt 216's to confirm that that is how their suppose to sound. I feel a whole lot better.

Now I need to figure out how to get the timing right.
