I polished them a couple years ago and decided to paint the red center strip. I took 150 sandpaper and folded a crease and ran it down the center line. I then masked both sides and painted with Krylon cherry red. I dusted about 4 coats and removed the tape . Area surrounding red was cleaned with a razor blade and then polished with 0000 steel wool. Coverage wasn't great so I retaped and did again. This time it looks OK. Do you think the paint will peel? It seems to have adhered. Time will tell? Pics below. I painted mine with a brush and some model paint. I've had them on the truck for 4 years now with no problems.
