Thanks | | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,549 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,549 | If it's 5 lug front, & 10 lug rear, it's a 1 1/2, or 2 ton. To differentiate the two, the next question is, do you see a ID (VIN) plate under the passenger side hood, rivited to the outer edge of the cowl. If so get the number from it, & someone here with decifer it for you. Does it have a 2 spd. rear axle. If so, 2 ton. | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 . | | . Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 | Did Chevy offer a 2 ton in 46? A friend of mine just bought a 45, and we were lead to believe that Chevy only went up to 1.5 ton in those years. His even has a sort of double frame, and is supposed to be a 1.5 ton.
With 5 lug fronts and 10 rear it's bigger than a 1 ton for sure.
48-53 trucks are more my thing, so I may be wrong on the older ones. Grigg

If on the ID (VIN) plate you find the first two letters "OR", "OS", "PJ", or "PK", it's a 1 1/2 ton. If you find "OE", "OF", "PV", or "PW" it's a 2 ton. | | |
