Needing some help, does a 64 c-10 have self adjusters on the rear brakes? I'm in process of restoring a 64 c-10 while attemping to replace the rear brakes I noticed no adjusters, no hole in the drum or backing plate for adjusting, and no mechinism to keep the adjusters from turning. I wondering if the preivous owner removed the self adjusters?

I have a 64 C10 and did a complete brake job on it, and there were self adjusters on mine. I know they were original, as my truck came from my grandparents, and I'm only the second owner. 64 is the first year that Chevy came out with self adjusting brakes. Good luck.

Thanks Tramp, I purchased a spring kit thought it was wrong looked at others they were the same, it let me to believe I had parts missing from my brakes, your post confirms it. I found self adjusters for a 64 in one of my old truck catalogs, I'll be ordering. I guess at some point in time someone decided they were not needed????

Those parts are all available from the local parts store. The self adjuster kit comes one for each side. The return & hold down parts come in a kit that does both sides. It,s usually called a Combo-kit but different brands have there own name. The emergency brake parts in side are hard to come by if someone left them out.
