i want to put front disc brakes in my 58 apache .is there anything we can use (besides buying kit which is too expensive)from another type that would be compatible? also is there a site that has alot of pictures (for colors) so i can get an idea of what color to paint... thanks doug

You can use the complete front brakes (rotors, calipers & hoses)from a 74-77 Malibu. I think that same era camaro may also work. Then buy the bracket kit from one of the aftermarket suppliers. You are not done there however as you will still need a power booster, master cylinder, & proportioning valve (under the floor type). It's probably better to buy the booster assy as a kit.

Note: This will give you a 5 x 4 3/4 bolt pattern. The six lug conversions are more complicated.

I did allot of research on this in attempts to avoid buying a 6 lug kit. I don't know exactly what rotors to use, but have some ideas. Hoses, calipers & brackets per above work for 5 or 6 lug. '70-'78 or so Camaro calipers are what's in the kits. In the end, I'll probably buy a kit. Are you are going to go 6 lug or 5?
