Is the rubber weather strip available that attaches below the rear doors or valance and is behind the rear bumper? Cant seem to find it.

Do you have any of it left??? If so ask for a catalog or see if the have pics of their different universal on line. You may be able to match something up PLUS if you have a piece of it they might even be able to reproduce it for you...Joe

Mine is gone! So matching one up wont work. I got a new rear bumper from a local scrap yard so I am going back to see if I can get a piece of the gasket I left behind. I just assumed they were available.... Eventually I'll learn!

Its actually a piece of cloth reinforced rubber that is held on with a 1/2 wide u shaped metal piece. about 1/8 inch thick. you can probly find the material and slit it to the right width...there are kerf cuts on the corners so it bends with the bumper shape. i have 2 and there both worn out...i'll let you know if i find similar material....I was thinkind that the stuff they use on flat roofs would be good. my metal retaining pieces are pretty rusty so i'm looking for a replacement for that to. posibly the same pieces they use to hold the rubber down on flat roofs...if you need a pic of either give me a yell.

I need a pic of what is on a 56 GMC carryall/suburban. I see tinnerman nuts across the valance but don't know what goes there.

hey guys - I put a scan of the seal from the assembly manual up here [click "full size" upper right] - the piece will be the same panel/burb 55-59 Chev or GMC ... it has been repro'd cuz I've got one in the parts stash for my project, from Golden State Pickup Parts, part #17-6RPS under bumpers [no picture provided]

it is/can be just a straight piece of rubber about 3-4" wide if I remember right, just wide enuff to curl over and 'wedge' behind the bumper - the metal piece that holds it on the valence is channel shaped in the manual, but the one on my panel was just a flat piece and looks original - just held with screws into J-nuts

I'll dig out the rubber sometime and get measurements, and post here .... sometime

if the gasket [rubber} is flat i used some stuff made by "gortex"or gortec? i work as a boilermaker and it is used for steam or heating -cooling people as gasket material,it is black rubber w/ a slight strand of string or cord in it !most plumbing -pipe wholesale dealers sell it ,nice stuff ! good luck if you cannot find it i will get you some ! thanks mike "carryallman" wahl
