I am rebuilding a 1950 Chevrolet and I am putting in a Mustang II IFS. When the kit came, there were five lug rotors. I am wanting to use the same wheels that were on the rear end just for ease. I have a rear end that is from between 53-55. I have been told that I will not be able to find six lug rotors with the same pattern as the rear wheels. Is this true?
If not where will the best place be to get them?

I guess you didn't discuss lug numbers with the vendor? When I ordered mine I had the option and chose 5 lug because I wanted to upgrade rearend to a Camaro 10 bolt that takes 5. Send it back and swap for 6. What kind of motor will you run and how fast do you want to travel on the highway? That AD rearend will slow you down pretty much.

I went for 5 lug all the way around,on my 55.I am still running the stock rear. However I pulled the axles and had them redrilled for 5 lug wheels. The only reason is that I wanted the same bolt pattern on all four wheels.I took the axles and brake drums to Moser Engineering in Indiana to be plugged and re drilled.Another reason to go with the regular 5 bolt Chevy pattern is the availability of different aftermarket wheels. I am running chrome Corvette Ralleys on my truck.

You can always look for wheel adapters too. Spendy and they'll move your wheels outboard. I'd talk to your vender and see if they have a 6 lug set-up for the Mustang IFS to trade you.

Another option is to take them to a local machine shop to have them redrilled to match the rear. I had a set done for $60.

The question was could he find front rotors with the same matching 6 lugs as his rear wheels. I forgot what his spacing was on the original 6 lugs. The IFS vendor's 6 lug kit might not fit his 6 lug rear. If that is the case mobileortho has the best option. Get the rear redrilled at a local machine shop.

Rotors from a 1970 to 1985 K10 will be 6 lug x 5.5" bolt circle and should match his rear axle, but they won't fit his Mustang II
spindles. If the vender offers a 6 lug rotor or sleeves, and is willing to trade, that would be the least expensive way to go.

You most likely won't find anything in 6 lug for a Mustang 2 front end. And redrilling the rotors probably won't be doable either, as the hub of the Mustang rotor is rather small to accomodate the truck bolt pattern. Best bet would be to re-drill the rears to match.
Also, personally, I would avaid adapters like the plague. In my own experience, they are not as safe as having the wheel bolted solid to the hub. Seen too many wheel offs caused by adapters used to fit wheels used in incorrect applications.

True, but he could upgrade to the larger rotors and redrill them.
I'd just go ahead and swap out the rearend and be done with it.

As long as the hug itself was large enough, then yes, that would work. But most larger rotors put the extra size in the actual braking suface, not the in the hat section of the hub.

Contact Moser Engineering in Indiana. They are on the internet. I had my rear axles plugged and redrilled there for a very reasonable price. Now with regular Chevy 5 bolt 4 3/4 inch bolt pattern,I have a large choice of aftermarket wheels.

I run 5 lug rotors 4 3/4 bolt on my M II front end. I believe they are '82 Chevy Camaro. It's a difference of changing one bearing, can't remember if it's inside or outside. I know the race is the same whether Chevy or Ford. I have a '54 1 ton with a flatbed on it now. Need to update my photos. If you get the rotors to match the spindles it shouldn't be a problem.
